Installation Instructions
- Click on "Download CAL Now!" located on the right side of your screen to download the installer.
- Run the installer and follow the instructions. By default the CAL application is installed in the /Applications/ISAT folder.
- The installation creates an ISAT shortcut icon on your desktop. Double-clicking this icon will start the CAL application.
- If you DO NOT plan to use additional features of CAL like the Local Caching Server or the Speech Feature, your installation is complete.
- To enable students with audio accommodations to use the Speech Feature, follow the instructions in the Audio Accommodation page.
Configure CAL Using Preferences
- A utility program called "Preferences" is included as part of the CAL installation.
- It allows you to configure the following additional features of the CAL application:
- Proxy Settings
- Secure Connection
- Automatic Updates
- Local Caching Server
- Speech Feature
- The "Preferences" program can be accessed using Finder from:
/Applications/ISAT/Preferences
Configure CAL to Use LCS
This section helps you to configure the CAL test delivery engine to use a LCS set up in your network.
- Open the CAL Preferences program.
- Select the "Local Caching Server" menu.
- Check "Enable Local Caching Server Configuration" and add the IP and port where the LCS is listening.
- By default the LCS listens on port 8100.
- Click "Apply".
- Select the "Troubleshoot" menu and click on "Run Tests" to verify that the system is able to connect to the LCS.
- If the system is not able to connect to the LCS, make sure that the LCS is running. Use the LCS Monitoring tool to check if the LCS is running. Also make sure that your computers are able to find the LCS in your network using the IP and port entered in step 3.
- Click Ok.
Once your ISAT CAL test delivery engine is properly configured to use the LCS, take any of the practice tests available and use the statistics in the
LCS Monitoring tool to verify that practice tests are downloaded from the LCS.
Notes
- Requires Mac OS X 10.0 or later.
- The compressed installer should be recognized by StuffIt
Expander and should automatically be expanded after downloading.
If it is not expanded, you can expand it manually using StuffIt
Expander 6.0 or later.
- If you have any problems launching the installer once it
has been expanded, make sure that the compressed installer
was expanded using StuffIt Expander. If you continue to have
problems, please contact technical support.
